July 2006 Update

Howdy y'all

Not to be too repetitive, but this month started off bloody hot again - what a bore !
We had one particularly memorable weekend where we had the choice of sweating on the couch or taking advantage of the air-conditioning in the local mall.... talk about a great excuse for Anita to spend money.
We decided to buy a fan to help cool the apartment down but unfortunately all the local stores were sold out. So we ordered one online and it promptly arrived after the heat wave - typical ! ;o)

Luckily the weather wasn't as hot for the day of Manus sprint triathlon. The triathlon consisted of a 400 yard swim (365 mtr), 11 mile bike ride (18km) and 3.1 mile run (5km). Manu didn't beat his personal best, but was happy to have completed the race, especially considering the difficulties he had getting time to train around a hectic work schedule.

Meantime Anita did some training of a different sort. She took timeout one Saturday to attend her friend Eliza's birthday celebration. Eliza chose to tour around the Napa and Sonoma vineyards with a group of 6 girlfriends. It was great fun and we got to cruise the vineyards in a massive chevy truck with shining mag wheels - such a pimped out ride !
Manu met up with the slightly inebriated girls when they got back from the wine tour and was voted the sweetest husband ever (by his wife) as he listened to all the stories from the days frivolities.

All through this month Manu's been travelling for work in Phoenix and Portland.
One week he had the misfortune to be in 3 cities in one day. He started his day at 4:30am in San Francisco. Flew to Phoenix to do testing with end users, then flew to Portland. The poor guy was knackered when he got to his hotel room around 1am.

Luckily Manu got home to San Francisco in time for some R&R and his birthday.
This year Manu got a real surprise when he walked into a restaurant expecting to have a romantic dinner for 2, and saw 8 good friends waiting for him.

After an absolutely wonderful dinner at 'Citizen Thai and the Monkey' restaurant we took a short stroll down to 'Jazz at Pearls' where local San Franciscan, Chuck McKinnon, was trumpeting up a storm.
Ever since we first arrived in San Francisco Manu has been eager to check out this sassy jazz club, so it was wonderful we could all share the experience with him.

That's about all for this month dear readers. Thanks for sticking with us.

Big Manu hugs
Anita & Manu

PS - HUGE congratulations to Sam & Rob on the birth of their beautiful baby girl who was named Aislin
