Manu finally finished up at his project in Santa Clara, which he was happy and sad about. He didn't like many aspects of the work, but he liked the people he worked with alot.
He's since been approached for several projects and has been turning down the ones that involve management, he's hanging out for a technical role. A couple that he was interested in have fallen through (as is the case with this work - it doesn't always eventuate). One of them fell through due to political issues between companies - which was a big disappointment for him as he was really looking forward to that project, it was also local which was a bonus.
So, he's back to proposal work for the moment, waiting for the right project to come along and whisk him away.
Manu surprised Anita on her birthday by taking her to dinner in a place she wasn't expecting - there is a long story to this but suffice to say a good time was had :)
Anita's work has been very quiet, she's been "working from home" 1 day a week and doing some pretty relaxing hours when she is at work. The parent company is currently focusing on other projects, so her company is going through a calm before the storm phase. Meanwhile more and more people are leaving the company either through redundancy or voluntarily.
Anita went to a Change and Transition Workshop the other day where the speaker mentioned that the national average job length in the US is 3.2 years, however in San Francisco it's 1.4 years. The main contributor to SF's appauling number is Silicon Valley.
We moved into our new apartment on the 25th of February, much better than the last place - so nice not having to deal with mould problems. New place is located 1 block away from San Mateo shops, so it's got great access to movies, restaurants, pubs and all sorts of clothes shops - brilliant.
The move was a bit of a mission this time, we were both feeling the effects of a virus which managed to develop into Bronchitis for Manu. Manu was off work for 5 days recovering but he's heaps better now.
Take a look at the Flickr pictures to see Anita's nnitting evening with the girls and the results of her knitting frenzy. A very lovely scarf indeed I think.
Not much else to report. Only other thing we got excited about was the booking of our trips to LA and Cabo San Lucas. Also talking about a few Tahoe trips to the snow before the season ends in April. Thank goodness March is looking much more eventful.
See you real soon !
